World number five Möregårdh won his first-round match in Doha 3–0 in sets.
Jha knocked out the Swede about a year ago in the second round of the Singapore Smash, the tour's highest competition category, but since then Möregårdh has impressed.
He won the Europe Smash at home in Malmö, won the WTT Champions in Montpellier, and finished 2025 with a second place in the WTT Final in Hong Kong.
Jha, ranked 21st in the world, saved four match points in the third set, but Möregårdh was largely unstoppable. Möregårdh won 11–2, 11–6, 12–10.
Manav Thakkar awaits him in Friday's round of 16 at the WTT Champions in Qatar. The Indian, ranked 34th in the world, defeated Frenchman Simon Gauzy, ranked 17th in the world.
