Shortly after midnight and to great cheers, party leader Nooshi Dadgostar stepped up to the podium to speak at the party's election vigil.
"We did it. We are the party that has grown the most of all the parties in the Swedish parliament. We are achieving our best election result in modern times," she says.
Nothing is definitively clear, and not all electoral districts have been counted yet. However, it looks like the Left Party will receive 8.1 percent of the vote, which would be a significant improvement on the last election result, when the party received 6.7 percent.
A definitive election result may now be delayed until Wednesday, but it looks as if the opposition has an advantage by one mandate.

She also took the opportunity to give a strong dig to her opponents:
It has been an election campaign with a lot of smear campaigning and a harsh tone.
Can have the keys
If the numbers hold up, the Left Party could hold the keys to Rosenbad. The party is sticking to its demand for government posts to allow Magdalena Andersson to move ahead, explains party secretary Maria Forsberg.
We have promised our voters that their votes will also count, and then we will be part of the government, she says.

Vice Chairman Ida Gabrielsson says that the main thing is to get rid of the Tidö parties.
"We demand that everyone who is involved and wants to form a government for Magdalena Andersson to become Prime Minister take responsibility together. We are not saying no to anyone in the opposition. We are just saying yes," she says.
But can you be satisfied with budget cooperation?
Absolutely not, we have said very clearly that we are constructive. That is why, despite being far from the Center Party, we have made our voters and our members feel that they are needed, says Gabrielsson.
