A search effort in the rubble after a collapsed school in Indonesia has been completed. The remains of 67 people have been found.

It was on Monday last week that parts of the boarding school in Sidoarjo on eastern Java collapsed. The collapse occurred when about 170 students at the Muslim school had gathered for prayer.

Since then, hundreds of rescue workers have searched in the rubble, first for survivors and later for the dead.

On the ninth day, we have completed the search and rescue operation, says incident commander Mohammad Syafii at a press conference on Tuesday.

The total number of victims who have been evacuated is 171, of which 67 are dead.

104 people survived the collapse. Those affected are mainly boys aged 12-18 years.
