A splinter group of the Provisional IRA - the New Irish Republican Army - claimed responsibility for the attack in Belfast, Northern Ireland, last weekend.

Local politicians condemned the act, which brought back horrific memories of the time when Northern Ireland lived in sectarian fear and terror.

According to the investigation, the perpetrators had ordered takeout from a Chinese restaurant and forced the driver at gunpoint to drive to the police station.

Once there, the driver managed to call the police.

By linking the phone call about the food delivery to surveillance cameras at the location where the call was made, police were able to arrest the suspect.

No one was injured. The suspect is charged with attempted murder.
