Around 250 million bees were released in connection with a truck accident in northwestern USA on Friday. The police are urging people to avoid the area and several roads have been closed.
The truck, which was transporting nearly 32 tons of beehives, overturned for unknown reasons not far from the border to Canada.
Now, one hopes that the bees will find their way back to their beehives within a couple of days, according to local police.
"Thanks to the fantastic beekeeping community: more than two dozen showed up to help ensure that the rescue of millions of pollinating honey bees would be as successful as possible", the police write on social media.
Many beekeepers in the USA rent out their beehives to farmers who need the insects to pollinate their crops.
