These are children who were patients at Mälar Hospital in Eskilstuna between 2019 and 2025, according to a press release from Region Sörmland. Of the approximately 800 cases that have been re-examined, 20 children who were declared healthy have been called in for a new assessment.
In connection with the review, a previously employed doctor was reported to the Health and Social Care Inspectorate (Ivo) by the region.
It was during the spring and summer of 2025 that the shortcomings were noticed after the clinic had terminated the employment of the cardiologist. They concerned ambiguities in documentation in medical records and follow-up.
All affected patients are being contacted individually, the region says.
