Despite controversies and protests surrounding Israel's participation in the competition, TV audiences flocked to the Eurovision Song Contest compared to 2024.
The three TV broadcasts from Basel in Switzerland were seen by a total of 166 million, according to figures from the EBU. This is three million more than last year's broadcasts from Malmö.
The EBU writes that the music competition is most popular in the Nordic countries. Iceland had the most viewers per capita, but Finland had the highest percentage of TV viewers since the competition began, with 90.5 percent of those who watched TV watching Eurovision.
It is also highlighted that the proportion of younger TV viewers aged 15-24 was record-high, with 60.4 percent of viewers in the age group watching Eurovision. Additionally, there was a record audience on YouTube, with 12.1 million viewers watching the final via Eurovision's own YouTube channel.
At the same time, TV viewing figures did not reach the record year 2016, when it was broadcast from Stockholm and reached 204 million viewers.
