14-year-old football talent Cavan Sullivan has written American sports history.

When he made his debut for his MLS team Philadelphia Union last night, Swedish time, he became the youngest ever in any major American sports league.

It was crazy to step in and it would be a lie to say I wasn't a little nervous. I've always dreamed of this day. It was butterflies in my stomach. The fans were shouting my name. It was surreal, says Sullivan according to ESPN.

Sullivan got to play his first minutes at the age of 14 years and 293 days old. That's 13 days younger than the previous record, set by football player Freddy Adu in 2004.

On social media, the former record holder congratulates the new one.

"Big congratulations to Cavan Sullivan for his record debut. It's a tough record to beat and the kid did it. Well done and good luck, my friend," writes Adu on X.

Philadelphia won the match against New England with 5–1. Sullivan was substituted in in the 85th minute of the match.
