Växtrum links a collection of gardens along the Säveån river in central Lerum. Each has its own design and planting, with spaces that range from lush borders and defined garden rooms to places where art, growing and biodiversity meet. Local volunteers helped create the gardens with leading Swedish garden designers.

A signposted trail runs between Lake Aspen and Lerum town centre. The full route is 3.6 kilometres, but you can choose a shorter loop. Several gardens are near Aspen, while others are closer to the town centre. Information posts at each garden have QR codes for a free audio guide, in which the designer explains the garden’s ideas. Guided walks and other activities take place at different times of the year.

The gardens are free to visit and open all year. Spring and summer bring the most abundant planting. The walking route has been adapted to make it easier to get around. From Gothenburg, take the commuter train to Aspedalen or Lerum, stations at opposite ends of the route. The gardens suit a walk at your own pace, with stops to look at the planting and details along the way.
