Älvkarleby museum Gammelgården is an open-air museum run by Älvkarleby hembygdsförening, part of Sweden’s local heritage federation. Its grounds have houses and objects dating back to the 18th century. The association’s work includes preserving and making visible the area’s environmental and cultural heritage.

The events described are seasonal. At midsummer, Gammelgården holds celebrations at its festival site around a midsummer pole with strong influences from Åland. Fiddlers and folk dancers lead the dancing. The association also holds Sweden’s National Day celebration at the site with Älvkarleby municipality. With support from Älvkarleby-Skutskär parish and the municipality, it arranges the Byss-Calle Meeting to honour a fiddler from Northern Uppland.

In July and August, special events connect to song and food traditions. The season ends with a Saturday afternoon river-lamprey roast in September. The association describes lamprey as a delicacy dating back to the early Middle Ages. The activities described fall between midsummer and September, and do not give a November programme.
