Villa Godthem serves Swedish restaurant classics in a villa on Djurgården. The house was built in 1874 as a private home for opera singer Carl Johan Uddman. It became a restaurant in 1897, during the Stockholm Exhibition. The restaurant says its menu changes with the seasons while keeping to classic Swedish cooking.

Dishes include plank steak, made with grilled sirloin, haricots verts, baked tomato, bacon, béarnaise, red wine sauce and pommes duchesse, and hand-rolled meatballs with cream sauce, lingonberries, pressed cucumber and potato purée. The menu also includes fish, seafood and other seasonal Swedish dishes. Chef Antonio Molina leads the kitchen, according to the restaurant.

The restaurant offers Afternoon Tea in its historic salons, with sandwiches, freshly baked scones, pastries, sweets, tea and coffee. It costs from SEK 475 per person (about $44, £35) and must be booked at least seven hours in advance. Champagne can be added. The restaurant also describes a traditional Swedish Christmas buffet served in winter, but the website gives no dates for it.

For private gatherings, the Klubbrummet dining room seats up to 34. The villa is beside Djurgårdsbrunnskanalen, and the restaurant says several of Djurgården’s cultural and leisure destinations are a short walk away. Its garden is used for lunches and dinners when the season allows.
