Caroline Hjerpe’s studio and shop is on Åsögatan in Södermalm. Visitors can try on jewellery in the shop, or book a private appointment to choose a stone. The studio says many pieces begin with a conversation with its personal shoppers.

The jewellery is made by hand in the atelier, using recycled 18-karat gold and sterling silver, and natural or antique stones. Some stones are 80 to 300 years old. The studio says it does not use lab-grown stones. Most pieces are made after an order in the chosen size and metal, so allow some time before they ship. One-of-a-kind pieces already in the atelier leave faster.

Prices shown on the website range from $820 to $9,872. The shop is open Wednesday to Friday from 10:00 to 17:00 and Saturday from 11:30 to 16:00. Monday and Tuesday visits are by appointment only. The shop can measure ring sizes, and the website offers a ring sizer kit. It says most rings can be resized, depending on the piece. Its Jewelry Circle lets customers sell back a piece for credit towards another, or buy pre-loved jewellery.
