Älskade Traditioner is a retro café at Södermannagatan 42, opposite Greta Garbo’s torg, according to the café’s website. Its founder says she opened it to honour her grandmother Elsa, who ran a café in Hökarängen in the 1950s. Furniture and china saved from the founder’s grandmother, great-grandmother and grandfather furnish the café and connect it to those family memories.

Waffles are the focus. The café’s story draws on the Swedish tradition of stopping for coffee and a waffle, often with jam and cream. It also takes inspiration from French crêpes and galettes, served sweet or savoury. The café developed a savoury waffle and folded it into a wrap, which it calls a “Wraffle” (wrapped waffle). Visit Stockholm describes the menu as mixing Swedish items with international favourites, and gives a cinnamon bun freakshake as an example.
