Virserum's Art Hall has several exhibitions running at the same time, with different orientations for different tastes. The exhibitions described by Visit Sweden include work about ordinary people's lives and conditions. The gallery presents itself as a rural art hall, a counterpoint to the idea that art and culture belong only in large cities.
The hall also describes itself as an eco-museum tied to village life and to Virserum's social and economic development. The town was once a furniture centre, and forests and wood remain important to Småland's business life. The gallery returns every three years to questions of sustainable living, including environmental, economic and social sustainability. The source also links forests and wood to a sustainable society.
The grounds include Virserum's Furniture Industry Museum, a tele museum, a herb garden and two cafés. The art hall opened in 1998. Visitors can see the exhibitions and explore the other named attractions on the grounds.
