Skönhetsfabriken was founded by Amanda Elmander, who says her work as a nurse in an emergency room shaped the idea. She says she saw many patients with illnesses linked to lifestyle, and believed some could have been prevented through proper nutrition, exercise and stress management.
Elmander describes the place as somewhere people can relax, unwind and take care of themselves. Her aim was to create an oasis where visitors could escape stress and recharge, so they could better handle life’s challenges. That is the purpose she gives for starting Skönhetsfabriken: a place for rest and personal wellbeing, informed by what she saw in emergency care.
For a visitor, the stated reason to go is to set aside time for relaxation and self-care. Elmander’s account connects that goal with attention to nutrition, exercise and stress management. Her starting point was prevention: she wanted people to have a place to pause and recharge before returning to the challenges of daily life.
