Ego Distillers runs a cocktail bar on Västra Hamngatan, with a menu built around spirits made at its distillery in Gamlestadens Fabriker. Music is played on vinyl. Its recently renovated room has raw walls and low lighting, which softens the space and gives it an intimate feel.

The bar develops and distils every spirit it serves. Sometimes it creates a spirit for one cocktail, giving the menu room to move between familiar flavours and more curious ideas. Cocktails lead the offer, while food has a smaller, carefully chosen role. Small Belgian waffles come with selected conservas, including quality tinned seafood and caviar.

The bar was among the first in Gothenburg to open after the food requirement for bars was removed. That change made room for a cocktail-led format. The result is a more polished side of Ego, while retaining the relaxed, personal feel that makes the bar easy to settle into. A visit can centre on trying the cocktails, with the waffles and conservas as the food offering.
