Strömbacka forge is one of three preserved ironworks sites cared for by the Hudiksvalls Bruksminnen foundation. The other sites it names are the Moviken blast furnace and the Iggesund ironworks. The foundation says its purpose is to support research and tourism connected with the development of forest-based industry in Hudiksvall municipality.

At Strömbacka, an exhibition covers life and work in the industrial community from 1700 to 1950. The forge was completed in 1753. Vallon forging was introduced in 1827 and used for about 30 years. Lancashire forging was reintroduced in 1944. Vallon forging ended in 1947, and Lancashire forging ended six years later, in 1953.

The website currently marks Strömbacka closed for the season, while also listing weekday hours of 11am to 5pm. It says visitors can book an off-season guided tour by calling guide Ove Helsén on +46702012608.
