Älgparken in Ockelbo offers a close look at moose, with walking paths beside the animals in their natural surroundings. The park describes itself as an outing for the whole family and says its grounds are child-friendly. It is partly accessible to wheelchair users; the park asks visitors to contact it for more information about access.
A farm shop sells dog equipment and moose souvenirs. Glassboden, next to the park, sells ice cream, soft drinks and coffee. The park also offers dog training and rehabilitation. Activities include a controlled first encounter with a moose for a young dog, help for dogs that have become frightened, and contact and obedience training. The park says its focus is helping people understand moose and the relationship between moose, dogs and people.
Lars and Petter Arkesjö started Älgparken in 2007. Lars works as a guide and dog-training instructor, while Petter and Emilia Sundström also work with dog training. Contact the park or check its Plan your visit page for more information about wheelchair access.
