Fredrik Church is a Baroque church in Karlskrona, designed by Nicodemus Tessin the Younger, whose work was strongly influenced by Italian architecture. The church’s models are said to have included Vignola’s Il Gesù and S. Atanasio dei Greci. It was consecrated in 1744 in the presence of Crown Prince Adolf Fredrik and Princess Lovisa Ulrika, but its towers were not completed until 14 years later. It was named for King Fredrik I.

Three bells hang in the towers. The largest, donated by King Karl XI, hangs in the south tower and was made in Stockholm in 1691. The baptismal font was a gift from shipbuilder Gilbert Sheldon at the church’s consecration, when his son Adolf Ulrik was baptised. The font remains in use.

The church has about 350 seats, with standing room for the rest of its permitted capacity of 704 people. It forms part of the Naval Port of Karlskrona, which UNESCO added to its World Heritage List in 1998.
