Crack in Georgia's Top Leadership after the Election
Georgia's President Salomé Zurabisjvili calls for protests after the disputed election where the pro-Russian ruling party Georgian Dream won. Prime Minister Irakli Garibasjvili however rejects the allegations of electoral fraud.
Georgia's opposition refuses to acknowledge election results
The ruling party Georgian Dream appears to be heading for victory in the parliamentary election in Georgia, as a larger part of the votes have been counted. The opposition does not recognize the election result and claims that the election is "stolen".
Georgia's President Takes Agent Law to Court
Georgia's President Salomé Zurabisjvili has turned to the country's constitutional court in the hope of repealing the controversial so-called "agent law". The law was adopted in May after weeks of extensive street protests, and implies that organizations receiving more than one fifth of their funding from abroad must register with the authorities.
Georgia celebrated greatly after the European Championship: "Miracle"
Thousands of people gathered in the square in Georgia's capital Tbilisi to celebrate the recently returned national football team. After a bus parade, the players stepped up onto a stage and were hailed by, among others, Georgia's Prime Minister Irakli Kobachidze and President Salomé Zurabisjvili.
