23-year-old arrested after theft of Warhol artwork
Dutch police have arrested a 23-year-old who is suspected of being involved in the theft of two works by Andy Warhol from an art gallery in Oisterwijk in southern Netherlands. The police do not reveal whether the two stolen works depicting Danish Queen Margrethe and British Queen Elizabeth have been found or not.
Thieves Blew Up Gallery – Stole Two Warhol Works
Thieves blew up the door to an art gallery in the Netherlands and stole two artworks by Andy Warhol – but simultaneously left behind two works that were damaged during the heist. The gallery owner, Mark Peet Visser, believes that the thieves were originally after stealing all four works that make up Warhol's series "Reigning Queens" from 1985.
