The Swede's competitor is banned for doping

The Japanese walker Koki Ikeda – who took Olympic Games silver on home soil in Tokyo 2021 – is banned for four years for doping, announces Athletics Integrity Unit (IAU). Perseus Karlström's competitor has been suspended from competing since November 2024.

Japanese walking star Koki Ikeda claims his innocence after being suspended while being investigated for a suspected doping offense. "For reasons that I know absolutely nothing about, I may not be able to compete in my next race, and I am completely perplexed", he says in a statement.
