A convenience store in central Örebro was targeted by a robbery in the morning.
A person in their thirties committed theft and left the store without paying. When a store employee tried to intervene, the person was subjected to violence, which means that the crime, which is essentially a minor theft, is classified as robbery in the case of self-defense. The perpetrator left the scene but good documentation combined with personal identification provides a good investigative situation. The store staff who tried to intervene have not suffered serious injuries.
Fact crime classification:
Robbery in self-defense exists when someone who has committed a theft is caught in the act and uses violence to prevent the recovery of stolen goods. See also 8 chapter 5§ Penal Code.
