Wave of fake police conversations in Luleå/Boden.
Under Monday, ten calls have come to the police's contact center concerning citizens in Luleå/Boden who have been called by scammers who claim to be from the police.
It's about calls from a computer voice that claims to be from the police. The police never call with automated voices. If you receive such a call, end the call immediately and report the attempted scam to the police.
The scammers claim to be from the police or the Swedish Police Authority and call for various reasons, for example, that your ID card has been involved in a crime or that there is an arrest warrant (warrant for your arrest) for you and that you are wanted. You may then be asked to make a button press to be connected to the police.
The police never call you with automated voices, neither in Swedish nor in English. If you receive such a call, end the call immediately and report the attempted scam to the police.
Examples of how the calls can sound:
’’This is from the Police. Your ID card is involved in irregularities, there is an arrest warrant issued for you... press 1 to be connected to the Police’’
’’This is from the Police. Your ID card is involved in money laundering, there is an arrest warrant issued for you... press 1 to be connected to the Police’’
