We have had a number of cases of attempted scams this afternoon where someone poses as a police officer.
In two cases, someone has contacted elderly women by phone and claimed to be police officers. One case in Järnbrott and another in Frölunda. They have said that crimes are taking place in the area and asked about valuable items. In one of the cases, they have claimed that someone is coming to collect valuable items. In the other, they have also claimed that someone has found a notebook with the woman's name in order to create anxiety. In connection with the calls, the women have felt suspicious and it has not resulted in any completed fraud. Reports regarding attempts at fraud have been drawn up.
If someone calls you and you become uncertain, you should end the call. This applies regardless of whether the person says they are a relative or someone from your bank, a company or a government agency, for example, the Police Authority.
Do not leave out personal information, such as bank details or other sensitive information. Do not identify yourself with a bank ID and never leave out valuable items. The police will never come and collect your valuable items.
