Do not open the door to strangers.

Under the afternoon, an 80-year-old woman living in the area of Krokek received a phone call. The person on the phone claimed to want to talk about loans and in connection with this, the doorbell rang, and a person asked to be allowed to look at - and photograph - the woman's valuables. When the woman handed over the valuables to the person, he ran off with them.

The police have been searching for the suspect since the afternoon, but have not been able to find anyone. The value of the stolen goods has not been clarified at this time.

The police want to remind people to never open the door for strangers who come to your home unannounced. If someone rings the phone and you do not recognize the number or know the person, hang up the phone.

It is also important to note that there are several types of so-called elderly crimes where people target older people, and try to deceive them out of money or valuables using various methods.

Some of these methods involve saying that you are calling from a company and claiming that you have ordered goods. You are then encouraged to call a number to cancel the order and provide a bank ID or equivalent for reimbursement. In this way, the thief takes the money from your account. There are never any ordered goods. If you are contacted by a company, you should always call the central switchboard via the phone number you yourself looked up to check if it is really them who are contacting you.

It also happens that someone claims to be from authorities such as the police and asks to look at valuables or similar. This is a scam. The police will never ask for your valuables, or offer to store valuables to protect them from theft.

If someone contacts you with the above claims, or in any other way tries to deceive you out of money, hang up the phone and call the police.
