Control of cyclists and drivers of electric scooters.
Under three evenings last week, Thursday to Saturday, personnel from the Traffic Section Värmland and a few applicants carried out checks of bicycles, cyclists, e-bikes, and drivers of e-bikes.
The checks were carried out in different parts of Karlstad municipality and resulted in, among other things:
270 fines for disorderly conduct for various shortcomings on vehicles and drivers, for example lighting or helmet.
8 fines for prohibited vehicle traffic (you have driven where there is only a pedestrian path)
There were also a dozen test drives of e-bikes, which resulted in 6 cases of unauthorized driving.
This type of check is carried out regularly as part of the Police's road safety work.
As a driver of a vehicle such as a bicycle or e-bike, where you are unprotected in another way than when driving a car, it is especially important that you are visible in traffic and that you have a helmet.
It is a requirement to wear a helmet if you are under 15 years old, both for bicycles and e-bikes, but even if you as an adult do not have this requirement, it is a cheap insurance against serious injuries if the accident occurs.
One of the most important ways to avoid accidents is to make sure you are properly visible in traffic through proper lighting and reflectors.
