The wave of fraud continues!

Fraud targeting older people continues in Östergötland. In Söderköping, a woman in her 80s was visited at home during the afternoon by a man who said he was from the police. The man collected her bank card, and it appears that money has disappeared from the account.

The police are actively working to prevent further crimes and ask family members to help by talking to their older relatives, friends and acquaintances.

The message is simple:

  • NEVER give out account details or BankID over the phone.
  • NEVER give your bank card to someone you do not know. The police or anyone else with good intentions will never come to your home to collect it.
  • Do not let strangers into your home! The police will always clearly identify themselves and appear in uniform and in a marked car. The police will not ask you for gold or valuables to store for you!

It is so important that we help each other with this! Our older people cannot be left alone to protect themselves against these cunning fraudsters. Use your bank’s card blocking services! Do not store gold items where they can easily be found!
