Alarm was received about a traffic accident on Vasagatan in Västerås. The police were dispatched to the scene where a driver had driven into a house wall. The driver was taken to hospital with unclear injury status.

In the subsequent police work after the accident, it was found that the car had been stolen earlier on Thursday. The car had then been driven carelessly in central Västerås and in connection with this, several other cars had been damaged. There are no reports of anyone else being injured in connection with the incident.

The driver, a man in his 50s, was suspected of gross negligence in traffic, unauthorized driving, gross drunk driving, minor narcotics offense own use and theft of means of transportation.
