A witness sees a man hit a woman in a parked car in Ella. The woman appears not to want to stay in the car but the man drives away from the scene with the woman still in the car and the witness calls the police.

The car is found by the police and the man in his 30s is apprehended. He is suspected of minor assault, unlawful detention, gross unlawful driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or driving under the influence of drugs.

The man and the woman had previously lived in a relationship with each other.
