Electric bicycle rider suspected of unlawful driving.
At 19.30, a e-bike is stopped in central Nässjö.
The e-bike is going too fast and is suspected to be tuned and therefore a driver's license is required to operate the e-bike, which the driver does not have.
The driver, a 25-year-old man, is suspected of unauthorized driving.
FACTS ABOUT E-BIKES
In order to be allowed to drive an e-bike in public traffic, it must be designed for a maximum of 20 km/h. The electric motor must have a continuous marking effect of a maximum of 250 watts.
If it has too high an effect or goes too fast, it is no longer a bike but a license-requiring motor-driven vehicle. Depending on the effect and maximum speed, an AM or A1 driver's license is required.
