A person in the northern region has been targeted by a scam attempt where a person came home to the residence and tried to deceive them into handing over gold.
Methods are many when it comes to trying to deceive people out of money and gold. It can be that one receives an SMS about having rented a car that one has not returned or for example someone who claims to be calling from the bank says that one has been the victim of a scam. Often the person calling wants the victim to do different things with the help of Bank-ID.
Many of these scams and scam attempts then involve a person coming to the victim's home and wanting to 'help' protect the gold one has at home - preferably taking it so that it won't be stolen or so the scammers suggest that the gold should be weighed or photographed. This is a scam and it is important to especially talk to your elderly friends and relatives about this.
In the case in northern Stockholm county tonight, the perpetrator was not successful in getting the gold they had hoped for and the police have been searching for the scammer during the evening - so far without success. The police will however continue to work to find the suspected person - it happens more and more often that these scammers are caught in connection with scams and scam attempts.
A preliminary investigation has been initiated regarding aggravated fraud.
