The police want to draw attention to a new approach that scammers use to get into the homes of elderly people to steal valuable items.

At least four times in Värnamo, Huskvarna and Jönköping, a woman has called on the door with a bag of buns that she persistently tries to offer. In order not to be impolite, the victims have let her in, whereupon her accomplices, two men, have then sneaked in and stolen items such as gold jewelry. The cases are classified as theft through burglary and there is currently no suspect or person under arrest.

The police's sharp warning is: Dare to be impolite! Never let an unknown person into your home. If you suspect something is wrong – call the police!

It is often difficult to investigate these crimes, and a tip from the police is to install a doorbell with a camera function if you have the opportunity. In cases where there has been such a device, the police have received useful images of the perpetrators.
