The fire is likely to have been caused by a grill that has been standing too close to an outer wall on the facade of the dwelling. The fire spread to the floor above the outer wall.

A couple of women who passed the fire scene alerted the fire department and began extinguishing the fire themselves with fire extinguishers, together with the residents of the building.

According to the rescue leader, the women's and neighbors' prompt intervention prevented the fire from spreading. It was a very good intervention by all involved.
