Fraud attempts in Eskilstuna

11:02, Attempted fraud, Eskilstuna
Someone in Eskilstuna municipality was targeted for an attempted fraud via phone during the morning. The person received a call where an unknown person left a voice message saying that a bitcoin transaction would be carried out from their account. To stop the transaction, the man was asked to call a specified number.

The man sensed something was off and did not call the number mentioned in the message.
The incident has been reported to the police.

The police want to warn people to be extremely cautious when dealing with unknown persons who contact them.
For example, one should never call numbers mentioned in SMS or phone calls. If someone claims to be from a company, one should contact their main switchboard via a number they have looked up online.
If you don't know the person calling you - hang up.

Do not open the door if someone you don't know knocks and wants to come in and check things or offer various services.

Never call unknown phone numbers - or pay money as instructed by others.
