Police are on the scene at E18 near Hallstahammar after an alarm was raised about a fire in a truck trailer on the motorway.

The police's task on the scene is to direct traffic and ensure that the rescue service can perform its work in a safe manner.

The police have received several calls from drivers about other drivers turning around and driving in the wrong direction on the motorway to avoid the traffic congestion that has arisen. This is not allowed and can lead to serious traffic accidents.

The police are still on the scene and have started working to direct traffic and turn the traffic jam around. Traffic will be diverted from Eriksberg service station (traffic junction 126).

If you are planning to drive and have planned a trip east on E18 from Hallstahammar, it is a good idea to have a mental preparation for a longer journey/time and bring along plenty of water or other supplies that may be needed.

The work on the scene is expected to take a long time and the road is currently completely closed in the eastbound direction.
