Police and rescue services were alerted to an address in Motala on Saturday in connection with a person being struck. A man had backed into a woman. How the actual course of events went is still unclear. The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The man is now suspected of gross drunk driving and causing bodily harm. Police work continues with various interrogations and the car is seized for technical examination.
The man is detained.

Traffic Administration estimates that around 15,000 transports are driven by someone who is under the influence every day in Sweden. They also make the estimate that every 500th car you meet is one of these.
