The police warn of fraud attempts.

Under the evening, the police become aware of a suspected fraud attempt that an elderly woman in Linköping is believed to have been subjected to.

A person claiming to be from a credit company is said to have called the woman and asked if she has gold at home and said she would weigh it. The person is also said to have asked if she lives alone and if she has home care. The woman is said to have said she had no gold, and shortly thereafter the conversation is said to have ended.

If you are contacted in this way, you should hang up the call if you do not know who the person calling you is or if you feel the slightest uncertainty about whether this is a serious actor. Do not trust people who call, even if they seem credible and have personal information about you. Never identify yourself with a bank ID over the phone and do not give out sensitive codes or card information either. Serious actors do not work that way.

Contact the police immediately if you or someone in your vicinity has been subjected to or contacted in this manner.
