Shortly after 4 pm on Boxing Day, a woman was struck by a car in Köping and the police were ordered to the scene.

When the police arrived at the scene, the driver of the car had left the scene with the car. The police found the relevant car and its driver a short while later, a bit away from the accident scene.

The woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance, where she later died. Next of kin have been notified.

The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm resulting in death, gross negligence in traffic, driving under the influence of drugs, and unauthorized departure from the traffic accident scene.
