Under Sunday evening, the police received information about a suspected rape outdoors in Skelleftehamn. The suspected crime scene was cordoned off and the police worked with investigative measures such as interrogations and forensic testing.

On Monday, a man was apprehended in his absence as suspected of the crime. The man, who is in his 20s, was detained and is now held in custody suspected in the case, which is classified as aggravated rape.

The complainant is a woman in her upper middle age. The woman and the man are said to have had contact with each other before the incident.

The investigative work continues with, among other things, interrogations with those involved and others who may have information to provide in the case. The cordon is still in place.

The case is led by a prosecutor.
