One of the women has fallen to the ground after the blow. The perpetrator disappears from the scene in the direction of Gamla Ullevi but a witness follows after and can point him out to the patrols.

In connection with the person being apprehended, he begins to argue with the police officers and uses violence against them. A police officer is injured in connection with the altercation and suffers injuries to the neck and throat but according to initial reports is doing well. The police officer is transported to hospital by a police patrol to have his injuries treated.

The perpetrator, who is in his mid-20s, is apprehended, suspected of assault, violence against an officer, and blue light sabotage. The two women are in their 45th and 30th years respectively. They have not suffered any more serious physical injuries and have not needed to seek medical care.
