Good morning. Here follows a selection of the police's activities last night.
The police's command center has handled a 40-something incidents in Södermanland County between 10 PM and 7 AM.
At 2 AM, the police were alerted to a suspected assault in an apartment in Eskilstuna. From the apartment, screams and commotion could be heard. In the apartment, there is a 40-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman who are in a relationship with each other. It is clear that the apartment has been disturbed, but the parties are only said to have verbally argued and the police see no signs of assault. Both parties are, however, suspected of minor narcotics offenses through their own use.
At 10:30 PM, the police were alerted to the area of Norr in Katrineholm due to a person having received a green laser in their eyes. Two neighbors are suspected of using laser pointers against each other. A 15-year-old boy and a 50-year-old man are both suspected of attempting to commit serious assault against each other. The incident is now being investigated by the police.
FACTS Laser Pointers
To handle strong laser pointers, that is, laser class 3R, 3B and 4, with an output power of over 1 milliwatt (mW), a permit from the Radiation Safety Authority is required. You need a permit to possess, manufacture, buy, receive, use, sell, give away, lend or rent out or bring strong laser pointers into Sweden. Breaking the rules can result in fines or imprisonment for up to two years.
Permits are only given to those who need the laser pointer for a legitimate purpose and only if it can be assumed that the laser pointer will not be misused.
It is illegal and dangerous to direct a laser pointer at people, vehicles or aircraft, as it can cause serious eye damage and lead to charges of assault.
