Conversation about elk in central Uppsala.
A number of calls came in about an elk that was moving in central Uppsala. The elk was perceived as stressed and the police contacted game wardens for an assessment of how the situation would be handled.
About a quarter of an hour after the first calls about the elk came in, information came in that it had fallen or jumped from a height at the central station in Uppsala, and landed on a sidewalk a few meters down.
In connection with this, the elk died, and game wardens came to the scene to transport it away. While waiting for the game wardens to be finished, the police secured the area.
During the time the elk was moving in central Uppsala, the public was advised not to approach it, as the elk could become even more stressed. The same advice applies to other situations where wild animals are moving in central environments.
