Police receive a call from an elderly woman who has been deceived by a telephone scammer. It has been stated that items have been purchased with her credit card, and they have managed to get the victim to state their bank ID. The scammers have obtained a larger sum of money, likely a six-figure amount. A report of gross fraud has been drawn up and the victim has been visited by the police who have made the investigative measures that can be taken. There is no suspected perpetrator at present.
Police emphasize that never give out bank ID or other information to anyone over the phone. Hang up the phone! This type of fraud is common and the people who call are persistent and eloquent. End the call immediately and contact the police.
