This is an opportunity to contribute to the development and lifecycle management of embedded control and I/O systems, ensuring component quality, availability, and long-term product reliability.

🔧 About the Role

As an Electronic Component Engineer, you will be a key technical resource for component-related activities throughout the product lifecycle. You will support electronics designers with component selection, evaluation, qualification, and the introduction of new components while maintaining an accurate and reliable approved component database.

You will also coordinate second-source investigations, manage obsolescence-related challenges, and collaborate with suppliers, EMS partners, and international engineering teams to ensure robust and sustainable component solutions.

  • Support electronics designers with component selection, evaluation, and qualification.
  • Lead second-source investigations and coordinate component verification activities.
  • Address component lifecycle challenges, including Last Time Buy (LTB), obsolescence, availability, and sourcing.
  • Plan, coordinate, and follow up on verification activities performed by electronics engineers.
  • Collaborate closely with Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) partners on component-related matters.
  • Ensure component information is accurate, complete, and up to date throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Work with local engineering teams and international colleagues in Germany and China.
  • Identify component risks and proactively recommend suitable alternatives and mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in component management and engineering processes.

✅ Required Skills & Experience

  • Solid technical background in electronics and electronic component engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic components and their applications in embedded electronics systems.
  • Experience with component selection, evaluation, and qualification.
  • Knowledge of electronic component database management, PLM systems, or component libraries.
  • Experience with second-source investigations and supplier coordination.
  • Understanding of component lifecycle management, including obsolescence and Last Time Buy processes.
  • Familiarity with verification and validation activities for electronic components.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to coordinate activities across multiple teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • A proactive, constructive, and solution-oriented approach to technical challenges.

👤 The Ideal Candidate

You are a structured and technically minded electronics professional who combines sound engineering judgement with a proactive approach to component management.
