The animated film "Zootopia 2" has reached $1 billion in worldwide box office revenue this weekend - the fastest ever for a children's film, writes Variety.

It took nine years for the blockbuster film “Zootopia” to get a sequel, but just 17 days for “Zootopia 2” to reach $1 billion in worldwide box office revenue. Never before has a children’s film grossed so much in such a short time.

The Disney film about rabbit Judy and fox Nick is the third children's film to gross over a billion dollars this year. "Lilo and Stitch" grossed a total of 1.03 billion and Chinese "Ne Zha 2" 1.9 billion.

Only 13 R-rated films have ever grossed over $1 billion – ten of them are Disney films.
