The former football star bought an apartment building in Östermalm, Stockholm, a number of years ago. He then became involved in a rental dispute with a tenant who had rented the accommodation through an agency after the tenant was given notice.
The tenant did not move out and sued the property owner, seeking the right to remain with the same rights as a primary tenant.
The dispute has concerned whether the tenant should be forced to leave or allowed to stay with the same rights as a primary tenant, even though his tenancy was terminated.
In November 2024, the Stockholm District Court ruled that the tenant has the right to remain in the apartment. The Court of Appeal is now following the same line.
