Zibanejad struck in the third period, first setting up teammate Alexis Lafrenière's 3-2 goal. A few minutes later, he put the puck in the net after another fine collaboration with Lafrenière, who set up the goal with Adam Fox.
The Swede then picked up the final point when he and Lafrenière set up Will Cuylle, who made the final score 6–2 with less than three minutes left in the match.
For Toronto, Swedish forward William Nylander provided an assist on the very first goal of the match.
