Mika Zibanejad spoke out after last night's game to apologize to his teammates. The Swedish NHL star was punished by his New York Rangers for being late.

Rules are rules, says the Swede, according to Aftonbladet .

Rangers coach Mike Sullivan benched his star player for disciplinary reasons in Monday's game against Anaheim. The reason was that Mika Zibanejad was late for a team meeting due to a traffic accident.

"I got stuck. We got stuck behind an accident. I just hope everyone in that accident was okay," says Mika Zibanejad, after last night's game against Vancouver, which the Rangers lost 0-3.

Mika Zibanejad understands why he was punished.

"It's my tenth season now, I know what's going on," says the 32-year-old center, according to Aftonbladet.
