The information comes at a time when Ukraine is trying to resist Russia's offensive war, whose airstrikes are targeting, among other things, the country's energy facilities.
Zelenskyy says he is aware that Patriot systems are expensive and take years to manufacture. He therefore suggests that European countries give Ukraine their Patriot systems and wait for compensation from the United States.
"We don't want to wait," Zelensky said, according to AP.
It is unclear how many Patriot systems are currently in Ukraine, but Germany recently sent some to the war-torn country. It is also unclear how such an order would be paid for.
